Hanson’s 25th Middle of Everywhere Anniversary World Tour
Hanson fans descended on the Norva the night before the show without hesitation for the 24-hour wait in hopes of snagging a shot at the barricade. Everyone knows that a sold-out show at the Norva can mean a longer wait time than usual to make it to the box office, but I didn’t anticipate the crowd to span beyond the block hours before the show IN THE RAIN. Thankfully, I was working and would be able to bypass the line to pick up my pass, but it didn’t stop many of the fans from making sure I got to the front of the line upon arriving. “Are you here to take photos of them? GET HER UP FRONT! SHE IS TAKING PHOTOS OF THEM! I will be up front with my friends! Make sure you get a photo of us!”
The merch area was packed. The bars were as crowded as I have ever seen them. Fans of the Hanson were now adults, enjoying this evening with their children. As I walked through the crowd, I overheard conversations about other concert experiences. One fan in particular told me that Hanson was her first concert and now it will be her daughter’s as well.
The tour not only allowed for fans to reminisce of their younger days, but also set the stage for the release of Middle of Everywhere, a greatest hits album.
Without an opening act, the crowd erupted before the lights went down. That enthusiasm persisted through the entire performance, and the singing crowd often overpowered the band. They played most of their hits, in addition to other songs from their six studio albums, proving that the loyalty those fans felt towards them was well-deserved.
